Mission Statement

Interventional cardiology is now one of the most vibrant and dynamic subspecialties in mainstream medical practice. As the field matures, the range of opportunities and applications continues to broaden, and there is an increasing need to focus not only on the effectiveness of treatment, but also on safety issues. Given the integrated nature of this evolving field we can expect growing emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach, and, further ahead, there are tantalizing prospects in the emerging technologies from stem cell research and regenerative medicine.

Interventional Cardiology charts the advances as they unfold and provides a unique resource for interventionalists seeking to keep pace with the unfolding technologies.

Articles published in Interventional Cardiology cover key areas such as:

  • Diagnostics
  • Imaging technologies
  • Angioplasty and stenting
  • Drug-eluting stents
  • Catheterization techniques
  • Atherectomy
  • Embolic protection
  • Peripheral arterial disease
  • Percutaneous mitral valve replacement and repair
  • Endovascular repair
  • Treatment of arrhythmias, including cardiac resynchronization and pacing devices
  • Cell therapy

Strategies for cardiovascular patient care have been revolutionized by interventional cardiology. Interventional Cardiology will provide a forum for commentary, debate and new findings as the scope of applications becomes increasingly complex.
