There has been no change in the nation's top five hospitals for cardiology and heart surgery, according to US News & World Report latest rankings.
In the magazine's 2022-2023 rankings, the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio is once again the number 1 hospital for cardiology and heart surgery in the United States.
The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota once again holds the number 2 spot, while Cedars-Sinai, Los Angeles, sits at number 3.
New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell in New York City is number 4, and NYU Langone Hospitals, New York City continues to hold the number 5 spot.
These five rankings are the same as last year.
Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City is number 6, and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston is number 7 (same as last year).
Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago takes over the number 8 spot this year from Stanford Health Care-Stanford Hospital, California, which drops to number 9 on the latest rankings.
Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston holds the number 10 spot (same as last year).
The rankings highlight hospitals' delivery of "exceptional treatment across multiple areas of care," the magazine says.
"For patients considering their options for where to get care, the Best Hospitals rankings are designed to help them and their medical professionals identify hospitals that excel in the kind of care they may need," Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U S News, said in a news release.
Mayo Clinic Tops Overall
In the overall 2022-2023 rankings, US News compared more than 4500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions.
As reported by Medscape Medical News, in the overall rankings of best hospitals, the Mayo Clinic claimed the top spot on the honor roll for the seventh consecutive year, followed by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at number 2, and NYU Langone Hospitals at number 3.
Cleveland Clinic in Ohio holds the number 4 spot in the overall rankings, while Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, and UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles are tied for fifth place.
This year marks the 33rd edition of the magazine's best hospitals rankings or hospitals overall and by key specialties.
According to a news release from US News, the rankings consider a variety of data provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations, and medical specialists.
