Jeffrey Thiboutot, MD, MHS, narrates the case of a patient who, in the interest of maintaining a specific quality of life, resisted a precipitate move to cancer treatment before arriving at a definite diagnosis.
This hesitation prompted an innovative route toward evaluation of the condition in question. The use of robotic bronchoscopy resulted in a noncancer diagnosis, which allowed the patient to forgo the limiting consequences that frequently attend cancer treatment.
