As health care providers, we should actively encourage sports and physical activity for both the physical and psychological health benefits. After numerous months of lockdown, many children and adolescents are craving socialization and a structured routine. To safely return to play, it is the duty of providers and nurses to accurately screen patients for post-COVID-19 complications and mitigate any risks for returning athletes. As research continues to evolve surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, health care providers need to continue to encourage compliance with public health guidelines and adjust physical activity recommendations based on current evidence.
