Conclusion
Despite the existence of guidelines endorsed by 2 prominent critical care societies, significant variability exists within this sample of institutional protocols for management of pediatric TBI. Further research is needed to determine whether this variability affects morbidity and mortality in patients. Ultimately, the adoption of standardized national protocols for management of TBI could maximize survival and functional outcomes for these patients.
