Rheumatology specialist Saakshi Khattri, MD, reflects on her time as a rheumatology fellow, and particularly her mentor, Peter Barland, MD, who made an impact on her with his love of rheumatology and "treat the patient" philosophy. Dr Barland taught her not to go solely by clinical criteria, but to treat a patient, with the end goal of giving back to the patient a strong quality of life.
