According to a 2018 study, up to 81% of patients admit that they've lied to their physician about something. Whether they're bragging about their commitment to healthy foods (and pointedly ignoring the smear of Loaded Fried Taco Supreme Burrito on their shirt) or insisting that allergies are the cause of their bloodshot eyes and lapsing into uncalled-for fits of giggles, doctors are pretty good at sussing out lies.

So good, in fact, that The Onion compiled a list of 21 Common Lies Your Doctor Will See Right Through to give patients a heads up before their next trip to the doctor's office.
