Clinical Features of Trigeminal Neuralgia

The diagnosis of TN is initially clinical, based on the history, characteristic clinical signs, and symptoms. For such a dramatic clinical presentation, there are many misdiagnoses in TN. Possibly because clinical signs may vary across patients depending on which dermatome/s are affected, the exact duration of pain, and the absence/presence of background pain: numerous permutations of these can make diagnosis challenging.
