The growth of technology in templating for THA is enabling accessible, patient-specific preoperative planning, and more comprehensive intraoperative guidance aimed at improving clinical outcomes and extending survival of the prosthesis. The authors recommend consideration for sitting and standing lateral radiographs to evaluate for spinopelvic pathology before THA for incorporation into the preoperative plan. Specialized software used to create patient-specific 3D models to simulate implant fit, range of motion, and impingement can help surgeons accurately select and place components to maximize implant survival and potentially optimize clinical outcomes.
