EVT in Middle and Low-income Countries

Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) has been shown to be a highly effective treatment in high-resource countries. The RESILIENT (Randomization of Endovascular Treatment With Stent-retriever and/or Thromboaspiration Versus Best Medical Therapy in Acute Ischemic Stroke Due to Large Vessel Occlusion Trial) performed at 12 public hospitals in Brazil demonstrated that EVT is also highly effective in a health care system with more constrained resources.[3] Infrastructure and support are needed for EVT in the developing world.
