Conclusion

Colovesical fistula formation is a common complication of diverticulitis. There are two pathways of management – surgical or conservative management for those deemed not suitable for surgical intervention. Conservative management carries risk of recurrent urosepsis. A patient with significant BPH and colovesical fistula may limit risk of urosepsis, thus reducing both morbidity and disease-associated mortality.
