Conclusions

VFCs appear to be safe and cost effective for the management of several minor orthopaedic injuries in adult and pediatric populations. Further study of the wider effects of using VFCs is necessary to evaluate the social and financial benefits to the patient as well as the effect on patient-reported outcomes. In particular, studies to assess the impact of VFCs are needed in an Australian setting.
