NICE guidance recommends offering aortic ultrasound to people in whom a diagnosis of asymptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysm is being considered if they are not already in the NHS screening programme. Those with an AAA that is 5.5 cm or larger should be referred to a regional vascular service to be seen within 2 weeks of diagnosis. Those with an AAA that is 3.0 cm to 5.4 cm should be referred to a regional vascular service to be seen within 12 weeks of diagnosis.
