Most impetigo infections are mild, however, complications can occur. These are more likely to occur in certain patient groups, for example neonates and those who are immunosuppressed, and can be life-threatening. In addition to those already highlighted, other complications include septicaemia, lymphangitis, and Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome.
