Physician burnout still has a big effect on patients and healthcare. Do you think your patients are sympathetic?
Forty-two percent of physicians in this year's Medscape National Physician Burnout & Suicide Report indicated they are burned out. No matter the age of the physician, nearly one in five physicians said they were depressed. Nearly half of that group indicated that their depression affects their interactions with patients, including making errors they wouldn't normally make and being easily exasperated with their patients.
If you are burned out, tell us about your experience with patients and if you think they are aware of your professional burnout.
