Common mental health conditions include depression, generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and social anxiety disorder. After an absence of 4 or more weeks for a common mental health condition NICE says for those returning to work consider a 3-month structured support intervention to try and reduce the likelihood of an absence recurrence. This may include developing an action plan, which is agreed with their line manager. Regular follow-up meetings between the person and their line manager are also suggested to evaluate progress, identify any issues and establish possible solutions.
