Hyponatremia and Dehydration

Severe hyponatremia and dehydration can be the initial clinical presentation of CF and is often the result of intense exercise, hot climate, or a combination of both.[134,135] Salt depletion results in Pseudo Bartter syndrome with hyponatremia, hypochloremia, and metabolic alkalosis.[136,137] In patients with a late diagnosis, a history of fine salt crystal deposition on the skin after exercise or sun bathing can sometimes be elicited and is characteristic of CF.
