Summary

The rehabilitative management of traumatic SCI requires a multidisciplinary approach, particularly given the increasing complexity of this patient population. Knowledge of prognosis can aid surgeons in their communication with patients and their families after this devastating injury. Familiarity with the common secondary complications of SCI and their general management will assist surgeons in providing the optimal care for these patients.
