Dose of Corticosteroids

The variety of corticosteroid types is compounded by the variety of steroid dosages used. Clinical data are limited concerning different dosages of each specific corticosteroid. The recommended dose of corticosteroid depends on the potency and solubility of the drug. Practitioner opinion and commercially available products dictate the steroid dosage used and the volume of the preparation. The lowest possible dose to achieve the desired outcome is a rule of thumb for medication use in general. Minimal evidence exists to suggest using doses beyond the manufacturer's recommendations for each compound.[11]
