Abstract and Introduction

Introduction

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with an increased prevalence of cognitive impairment.[1] In the Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke Study, there was an 11% increase in its prevalence for each 10 mL/min/1.73 m2 decrease in glomerular filtration rate <60 mL/min/1.73 m2.[2] In the haemodialysis (HD) population, the prevalence of cognitive dysfunction approached 70% in one cross-sectional study with lower rates reported for peritoneal dialysis (PD).[3,4]
