For the sixth year in a row, Boston Children's Hospital is the number 1 pediatric hospital, according to latest rankings of best children's hospitals by US News & World Report.

Boston Children's is also number 1 for cancer, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, and urology.

Ten hospitals earned a place on the magazine's 2019–2020 honor roll — a distinction awarded to pediatric centers that deliver exceptionally high-quality care across multiple specialties — with a few changes from last year.

Taking the number 2 spot this year is Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, up from number 3 in last year's ranking, while Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center dropped to number 3 this year, down from number 2 last year. Texas Children's Hospital, Houston, is also ranked number 3 (in a tie with Cincinnati Children's Hospital), moving up one spot from last year.

Children's Hospital of Los Angeles holds the number 5 spot on the honor roll this year, up from number 6 last year, while Children's National Medical Center, Washington, DC, is now number 6, dropping from number 5 last year. Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, is number 7 this year, the same as last year.

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is back in the top 10 this year, taking the number 8 spot, after dropping out of the top 10 in the 2018–2019 honor roll. Johns Hopkins Children's Center, Baltimore, Maryland, sits at number 9 this year, down one spot from number 8 last year.

Seattle Children's Hospital takes the number 10 spot on the honor roll this year, which was held by Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago last year.

RTI International, a research and consulting firm based in North Carolina, collected the data and analyzed the results with assistance from more than 100 medical directors, pediatric specialists, and other experts.

The methodology reflects clinical outcomes, such as patient survival, infection rates, and complications; the level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care, such as staffing, technology, and special services; delivery of healthcare, such as programs that prevent infections and adhere to best practices; and expert opinion among pediatric specialists.
