Former senior NHS doctor Jonathan Fielden has been given a 5 month prison sentence at Luton Crown Court, suspended for 12 months, after pleading guilty to a charge of voyeurism at an earlier hearing.

The 55-year-old from Biddenham, Bedford, admitted spying on someone in a shower through a hole in the loft of a private property in Linslade, near Leighton Buzzard, between 2014 and 2016.

Police said evidence was found of extractor piping being damaged giving a view into the shower.

The victim went to the police over concerns about being watched and Fielden was arrested in December 2016 before being released on bail.

He resigned as director of specialised commissioning and deputy national medical director at NHS England.

He was suspended from the list of registered medical practitioners in September 2018.

Fielden trained as an anaesthetist. He'd previously held senior posts at University College Hospital London, Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, the British Medical Association's Central Consultants and Specialists Committee, and the Care Quality Commission.

Sex Offenders' Register

As well as the suspended sentence, Fielden has to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work, pay costs of £3500, and attend 30 rehabilitation days or activities.

He is also the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), with conditions attached, and will be placed on the sex offenders’ register.

Investigator Detective Constable Louise Granger said in a statement: "This type of offence is unacceptable and can have a huge impact on the victim, so I’m glad that Fielden pleaded guilty and took responsibility for his actions.

"I'd like to praise the victim for having the courage to come forward and reporting this to us. I hope this encourages anyone who may have been the victim of a sexual offence or sexual abuse to report it to us.

"We take reports of all sexual offences seriously, whether they are recent or not, and will do our utmost to investigate these cases thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice."
