Romance and Valentine's Day

Many sources attribute the link between Valentine's Day and love to Geoffrey Chaucer (c.1343-1400). In his dreamlike 700-line poem, The Parlement of Foules, Chaucer describes how birds get together to choose their mates.[5] One stanza can be translated as, "For this was Saint Valentine's Day, when all the birds of every kind that men can imagine come to choose their mates."
