Although not a federal holiday, Valentine's Day has become one of our most popular holidays. The National Retail Federation estimates that Americans will spend almost $20 billion celebrating this day. Over one half of consumers will purchase some kind of high-calorie sweet treat to share with loved ones. February 14th is now firmly established as the "heart" holiday, offering a special opportunity to raise funds for heart disease.
