The increase in certain comorbidities in children such as diabetes mellitus or obesity has been postulated as possible contributing factor to the development of pediatric nephrolithiasis, although there are contrasting data on the role of a higher BMI in overweight stone-forming children (but lower urinary volumes and elevated uric acid levels in urines have been reported).[14,30,31]
