The National Health Service (NHS) is the world’s largest publicly funded health service.

It began on July 5th 1948 and provides healthcare that is free for all at the point of delivery.

In the last 7 decades the services provided, and the numbers employed, by the NHS have grown. Despite big problems with emergency care during recent winters, overall polling for Ipsos Mori has found 57% of the public said they were satisfied with the NHS when asked.
