Summary

MBDs eventually lead to altered joint mechanics and may ultimately necessitate hip arthroplasty. The particular characteristics of patients with MBDs have to be considered to minimize complications. Identifying these patients preoperatively is necessary to allow the surgeon to apply specific strategies to maximize the long-term results of the surgical intervention.
