The study has some limitations. Only nurses and physicians with an interest in EOL care may have volunteered to participate, which could have biased the results. Patients' and family members' views were not sought, and the study was conducted at a single metropolitan tertiary hospital; hence, the results may not be reflective of the practice of all ICUs in Australia. There may well be differences depending on the geographic location of the ICU, which should be considered in further studies.
