Conclusion

Males who develop a UTI have historically been given the classification of cUTI, and therefore it has been suggested that they be treated for an extended duration. The results of our analysis suggest shorter courses of levofloxacin are as effective as longer courses of ciprofloxacin in males in the outpatient setting. Furthermore, levofloxacin may be more effective than ciprofloxacin when males have additional complicating factors.
