Skin disorders in DM are relatively common and diverse. As the incidence and prevalence of DM increase, it will be important for PCPs to have a working knowledge of the presentation and management of these conditions. Most conditions can be managed by the PCP, but it is important for these providers to recognize which cases necessitate referral to a dermatologist for further care. The Table provides a general summary of DM association, clinical appearance, and diagnostic/management strategies for each cutaneous manifestation listed in this review.
