Summary

Soft-tissue coverage is crucial for prosthesis retention after TKA. Numerous options are available for the management of soft-tissue defects. An approach based on assessment of the characteristics of the patient and the wound can help guide treatment decisions. Early identification of a wound healing complication and prompt management with interdisciplinary cooperation among joint arthroplasty and reconstructive surgeons is essential to ensure optimal outcomes after TKA.
