John McCain was 72 years old as the 2008 election was coming to a close and he released his medical records, revealing that he had had four melanomas removed in the previous 15 years.[3] Follow-up tests of his lymph nodes suggested that the cancer had not spread, but a poll found that nearly half of respondents thought that he could not finish a single term as President in good health.
