Reader Poll: Med Students, Are You Worried About Getting a Residency Slot?

Should future medical students be worried about landing a spot in a residency program after graduation? In response to warnings about a looming physician shortage, US medical schools have increased enrollment by 25% since 2002, according to a recent survey from the Association of American Medical Colleges. However, in the same survey, about half of US medical school deans reported that they were concerned about the availability of graduate medical education spots for incoming students.
