Diagnostic Criteria

Diagnostic criteria for FTD were first established in 1994. The most recent set of criteria was published in 2011 by the International Behavioral Variant FTD Criteria Consortium, and outlined in Table 2.[4] These criteria, developed by experts in the field, are the most commonly used in the clinical setting and to conduct research. Additional diagnostic criteria for FTD can be found in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders, 5th Edition.[1] For the purpose of this article, the FTD Criteria Consortium criteria will be utilized.
