Pain Management in Cardiac Patients

A 62-year-old man with a history of a myocardial infarction (MI) 4 years ago presents with right hip pain. He has had discomfort with walking for the past 6 months. Radiographic imaging reveals moderate osteoarthritis.

His most recent lab results are:

  • Glucose: 100 mg/dL;

  • Blood urea nitrogen: 6 mg/dL; and

  • Creatinine: 0.82.3 mg/dL.
