Lessons Learned

Lessons learned from the project include (a) involve the potential preceptors early in the process so they better understand their role and goals of the program, (b) focus on competency completions early in the internship semester, and (c) ensure a scheduling mechanism for department directors to know when interns are scheduled at school or expected to be with their preceptor at the hospital. A strong collaboration between the hospital and the university must exist for the program to be successful.
