Remembering Pioneers in Nursing
Few nurses, famous or otherwise, are "just nurses." It is a mistake to think of nursing in such limited terms, because nurses have made and still make significant contributions to healthcare as well as to their own profession. Among nurses, past and present, are found social reformers, theorists, educators, clinical leaders, researchers, patient advocates, and military heroes.
The experiences and accomplishments of "famous nurses," past and present, should be honored, especially during National Nurses Week. Find out how much you remember about these nurses by taking our quiz. Of course, this is a mere sample of the thousands of nurses who have made their mark in some way, and the selection of nurses featured in this quiz is not intended to represent a definitive list or a ranking of nursing contributions.
