Conclusion

Lactobacillus probiotics, taken either orally or vaginally, are likely effective in reducing recurrent urinary tract infections in women. Although more research is needed, probiotics should be considered a useful and safe alternative to antibiotics. By minimizing exposure to antibiotics, nursing professionals have the potential to decrease antibiotic resistance in communities, de crease side effects in women, and in turn, improve their quality of life.
