Frederick G. Banting is the youngest laureate in medicine. The Canadian physician was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1923 at the age of 32 years. He also was a painter and took part in a painting expedition above the Arctic Circle. He died at the age of 50, after an air crash during World War II.
