Medication Interactions

Medication interactions with statins can be a problem. If a clinician considers prescribing a statin that the P450 3A4 system strongly metabolizes, such as lovastatin or simvastatin, then he or she needs to review the individual's associated medications carefully. Lists are available for this purpose.[8] Discussion with a pharmacist might be especially appropriate for this age group to review medication history and drug–drug interactions.
