Childhood Trauma
A history of childhood trauma (emotional, physical or sexual abuse) is not a distinctly differentiating feature as high rates are associated with both disorders – approximately 50% in bipolar disorders and 60–80% in BPD.[5] Bassett[5] suggests that those with BPD and bipolar may differ in terms of the form of childhood trauma experienced or their vulnerability to such trauma, but formal studies are lacking.
