Summary

The PPACA will introduce numerous changes to the delivery of health care in the United States.[55] In the future, other modifications to the health care system, including professional liability reform, are sure to be increasingly common in the national political dialogue.[56] Nationally, the PPACA as currently written is unlikely to have a dramatic impact on the delivery of care for infertility. However, access to noninfertility-based care will be dramatically increased. It is incumbent on REI as a specialty to ensure that access to infertility treatment is as high as possible while maintaining the high-quality standards we currently hold. As these changes are realized, leaders in our field must engage lawmakers and the private insurance industry to maximize the interests of our patients.
