Five-year View

With a multidisciplinary team that include a gastroenterologist in the long-term follow-up of obese patients, it is likely that the next 5 years will bring considerable advances in our understanding and treatment of GI functional symptoms in that clinical setting. The new bariatric procedures (i.e., LSG) open an unexplored scenario secondary to the new 'digestive route' and permanent anatomical modifications.
