This Child Just Ate But Needs Sedation: Is It OK?

You are in the emergency department when an otherwise healthy 6-year-old patient presents with a displaced distal radius fracture of 30º and no neurovascular compromise. He is in considerable pain and very anxious, awaiting reduction and casting. Three hours prior to arrival, he had crackers and orange juice but has had nothing to eat or drink since that time.
