Defining the Area of Interest: Retinal Detachment

In this article, only treatment modalities are discussed for RRD in adults. The author excludes retinal detachments due to proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) C or D or other proliferative diseases characterized by epiretinal or subretinal membranes or proliferative vascular diseases. Further, the author excludes all cases of exudative retinal detachments, retinal detachments by giant retinal tears or macular holes in high myopic eyes, retinal detachments in young individuals due to vitreoretinal dystrophies or other diseases such as retinopathy of prematurity or others. Retinal detachments as a result of trauma are also excluded.
