Biological Effects of BCR Signaling in B-CLL Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Based on heterogeneous responsiveness to BCR stimulation in different clinical subsets of B-CLL cell samples, a model has been proposed for B-CLL, suggesting that repeated encounters of BCR with presently unknown self-antigens or environmental antigens would trigger survival and/or proliferation signals whose extent may vary in B-CLL cells between distinct patient subsets, therefore contributing to the evolution of different clinical outcomes.[35,42–44]
