Tiotropium Bromide Step-up Therapy for Adults With Uncontrolled Asthma

Peters and colleagues conducted a three-way, double-blind, triple-dummy crossover trial involving 210 patients with asthma to contrast the addition of tiotropium bromide to an inhaled glucocorticoid with either a double dose of the inhaled glucocorticoid or the addition of the LABA salmeterol to the glucocorticoid.[6]

Storm noted that the study found that the tiotropium addition was just as effective as the additional salmeterol, offering patients an alternative to salmeterol.
