Currently, two key decision points exist with respect to the treatment of MS. The first decision point involves the initiation of therapy: specifically, when to start and what the first treatment should be. The second major decision occurs at the point of escalating therapy and concerns selection of a second-line treatment because of insufficient control of disease activity. This is an area of considerable recent research and ongoing debate, reflecting the availability of increasing therapeutic options.
