Conclusion

Humans frequently sustain bites that often result in infection caused by the biter's oral flora as well as environmental bacteria. It is important for providers to be familiar with the evaluation and treatment of bite wounds, recognize which are most likely to become infected and, if indicated, which antibiotics are most effective.
