Surgery and treatment options are progressively evolving for patients with renal cell carcinoma and IVC tumor thrombus. Urologic nurses who demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the nature of the radical nephrectomy with IVC thrombectomy surgical procedure and related complications have the potential to provide optimal post-operative care, respond in a timely way to patient needs, and enhance patient outcomes.
